Purpose of Announcement EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT AND ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY. This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur.

NOTE: Selective certification of eligibles with a valid Louisiana Class B (or higher) CDL Driver's License and an acceptable driving record will be used in filling the one (1) West Jefferson vacancy in the Department of Parks & Recreation. Kind of Work The purpose of this position is to handle all electrical repair and renovations of the electrical system in assigned buildings. Employee will perform skilled work.

Employee is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, repairing, and/or replacing electrical systems. Will perform various supervisory duties to include instructing, assigning and review work of a Trades Helper. Responsible for maintaining all electrical related items which include: scoreboards, p.a

systems, buildings, pump motors, field lighting systems, etc. Responsible for underground wiring and high altitude lighting repair. Required to provide services and/or installation for any electrical related problems as they arise.

This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or his designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position also requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference. Please note the current vacancies in the Department of Parks and Recreation are for a HIGH ALTITUDE position, the employee will perform high altitude lighting repair.

Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination Possession of a current Class C or higher Jefferson Parish Electrical license* or possession of a current Electrical Work (Statewide) license* issued by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC).** *Proof of a current and valid passing score on the licensing exam is acceptable for application. **A Jefferson Parish Electrical license is required for employment in this position. A current Louisiana Electrical Work (Statewide) license (or current and valid passing score on the examination) is acceptable for application; however, once an employment offer is extended, an applicant has ten (10) days to obtain the required Class C or higher Jefferson Parish Electrical license

Failure to obtain a Class C or higher Jefferson Parish Electrical license will disqualify an applicant for permanent employment in this position. Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate. Kind of Examination (ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL) NON-COMPETITIVE: All persons meeting the stated requirements on this announcement will be issued an Employment Eligibility letter for Electrician and have their name forwarded to the appointing authority when vacancies arise.
