Job description

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in San Gabriel, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you'll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in San Gabriel, CA
Details:
  • In-Person Tutoring in San Gabriel, CA
  • Schedule: 25 hours a month, 2 sessions a week for 1.15 hours
  • Pay rate ranges from $25-$35 per hour

Ideal Candidate:
  • Active teaching credential required (Special Education credential strongly preferred)
  • Reading Specialist experience required, preferably supporting students with dyslexia
  • Extensive experience working with students with Autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities
  • Strong knowledge of structured literacy instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, and sight-word development
  • Experience teaching foundational math skills and early numeracy concepts
  • Familiar with multisensory, evidence-based reading interventions (e.g., Orton-Gillingham or similar structured literacy approaches)
  • Skilled at creating engaging, hands-on lessons that reinforce learning through repetition and review
  • Patient, calm, and experienced in supporting students who require behavioral redirection and close supervision
  • Comfortable building rapport with students who are shy or have limited verbal communication
  • Strong lesson-planning, progress-monitoring, and differentiation skills
  • Tutor Assessment Required

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, sight words, reading fluency, and reading comprehension
  • Deliver structured literacy intervention designed to strengthen foundational reading skills and address characteristics of dyslexia
  • Support foundational math skills, including number sense, basic operations, and early problem-solving concepts
  • Reinforce handwriting, written expression, and foundational literacy development through structured practice
  • Create multisensory, hands-on lessons using engaging activities such as manipulatives, arts and crafts, and tactile learning materials
  • Incorporate frequent review and repetition to improve retention and build long-term mastery of skills
  • Implement structured routines, proactive engagement strategies, and consistent behavioral supports to maintain safety and participation
  • Build a trusting, supportive relationship that encourages communication, confidence, and academic growth
  • Integrate the student's interests, including trains, soccer, basketball, and hands-on activities, to increase motivation and engagement
  • Monitor progress through ongoing assessment and adjust instruction to meet the student's evolving academic and behavioral needs
