Job Description

The SHA Early Childhood (EC) Director is an inspirational leader who will be responsible for providing direction and leadership to SHA’s Early Childhood program. The EC Director position is full-time. The director reports to the Head of School and also works closely with the K-8 Principal and other lead administrators. Major areas of focus include: supervising the school’s EC teaching staff, implementing a mission-aligned curriculum, communicating with parents and leading a program that supports healthy child development.

Qualifications

  • BA in Early Childhood Education or WA ECE State Certificate; MA preferred

  • EC Teaching and Administrative Experience; Leadership experience preferred

Major Specific Responsibilities

  • Hire and Assign teacher positions

  • Supervise and Mentor EC teaching and administrative staff; lead staff meetings; lead / coordinate trainings and professional development

  • Create and maintain teacher schedules

  • Supervise the development and implementation of the EC curriculum with Teachers

  • Teach at least one hour per day

  • Meet regularly with EC teachers to assess classroom experiences, specific student concerns and offer ongoing professional guidance

  • Review and evaluate student anecdotal narrative reports

  • Maintain a high degree of communication with parents

  • Oversee all administrative tasks to ensure program is run responsibly and efficiently; procure and distribute supplies

  • Offer at least one evening for parents per year to demonstrate aspects of the curriculum.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment reflecting the learning goals of the school

  • Engage in ongoing professional development

  • Partner with the K-8 Principal to streamline a smooth transition into Kindergarten; work collaboratively on schoolwide events

  • Maintain Licensure

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Head of School
