Job description

Job Purpose: Under the general direction of the Behavioral Health Director, the Childcare Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring quality care for children while their parents participate in SCIHP evening group classes. The Childcare Assistant creates a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for the children, allowing parents to focus on their therapeutic sessions.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prefer college credit in early childhood/elementary education, child development, youth program or related behavioral sciences.
  • CPR -Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
  • Previous experience in childcare or related fields preferred.
  • Always provides child supervision, attentive care to children. Ensuring safety, comfort, and well-being.
  • Must be patient and can handle various behaviors and emotions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Excellent communication skills.
  • Provide a warm, caring, professional, creative and positive attitude.
  • Flexibility must have the ability to adapt to changing schedules and children’s needs.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background investigation.

All employees must be sensitive to the needs of the Native American community, demonstrate a deep understanding and respect for the diverse cultural heritage, traditions, and historical context of the Native American community.
