Job Summary The Unwind Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring unwind equipment to support the production of high-quality roofing and asphalt products. This role works closely with Coater and Facer Backer Operators to ensure raw materials are properly prepared, aligned, and processed according to customer specifications and production requirements. The ideal candidate will have manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to workplace safety and quality. Key Responsibilities Operate unwind equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining production standards Verify raw materials are selected and aligned according to work orders Monitor materials for defects and identify potential quality issues Communicate with operators and supervisors regarding equipment, material, and production concerns Perform equipment inspections before and during shifts Maintain production records and operational documentation Support troubleshooting efforts and make equipment adjustments as needed Participate in TPM and 5S activities, housekeeping, and continuous improvement initiatives Assist with cleaning and workstation organization Support production goals focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and waste reduction Required Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot equipment issues Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic math skills Ability to communicate effectively in English (read, write, and speak) Basic computer skills including Excel, Outlook, SAP and production tracking tools Education & Experience Hig h school diploma or GED preferred Manufacturing, production, or process-related experience preferred Physical & Work Environment Requirements A bility to work 12-hour shifts in an industrial manufacturing environment Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, squat, and perform repetitive movements Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs Comfortable working around industrial conditions including: Noise levels requiring hearing protectionm Temperature variations Dust, dirt, fumes, and manufacturing materials Must follow PPE requirements and maintain a strong safety focus Willingness to obtain forklift certification if required Education: High School
