Job description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The E-Gaming Representative would be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the YMCA D.R. Semmes eGaming room and equipment. This position will assist with leagues, tournaments, open play, classes, camps and birthday parties for all ages in both group and individual settings. The E-gaming Representative will be energetic, creative, prepared and an active problem solver while providing a safe gaming and learning environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Responsible for setup and break down of in-person eGaming events and virtual competitions. 
  2. Assists in the recruiting, marketing, and distribution of program information. 
  3. Organizes and schedules program registrations. May review and process program sign ins and scholarship applications. 
  4. Assists with managing table files for program registration and rosters for all EGaming programs by ensuring that coach, player, and other special request are met. 
  5. Maintains relationship with vendors on EGaming platforms.  
  6. Works with E-Gaming Director to develop program schedules and seasonal competitions. 
  7. Models’ relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. 
  8. Attends appropriate and needed training offered by the YMCA of Greater San Antonio.  
  9. Sets the example for the membership staff in areas of dress, demeanor, and customer service.  
  10. Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers and members and helps members connect with one another and the Y. 
  11. Supports the E-Gaming Director on special projects, as needed.  
  12. Assists with other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must have a basic knowledge of computer and console use. 
  • Prior experience in video game tournaments/leagues is preferred. 
  • Knowledge in any/all games offered at the Lounge including but not limited to – Minecraft, Fortnite, Rocket League, VALORANT, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Roblox, and more. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain a positive work relationship with program participants, parents of children, and staff. 
  • Will be able to communicate effectively with children, parents of children, and staff. 
  • Must have the ability to supervise children visually and audibly in a variety of situations. 
  • Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Will have knowledge of childcare programming; recreation and its application; safety and emergency first-aid procedures; program management; and customer service principles. 
  • Certifications required within the first week of hire: YMCA approved Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, Appropriate Touch, and Hazardous Communications. 
  • Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic lifesaving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.  
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 
  • Must be able to word process at 45 WPM and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.  
  • Must become proficient within 30 days in the use of ActiveNet.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

  • Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and/or documents and making changes as necessary/required.  
  • Occasional stooping and bending with regular lifting of up to 20 pounds is required.  
  • Incumbent must be able to stand for long periods of time, as well as be able to use keyboards, telephone keypads, and writing utensils.
