Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) / Office Engineer (OE) to support a critical infrastructure restoration project. This role requires a professional capable of balancing field oversight with comprehensive office management.
Project Scope:
This project involves the structural restoration and rehabilitation of five historic chamber structures spanning from the Ashokan Reservoir to the Kensico Reservoir. These facilities have provided over a century of service, and this essential work will ensure their continued operational integrity through the modernization of aging and weathered infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Delegation: Act as the primary point of contact and authority in the Resident Engineer's absence, providing full oversight for inspection, supervision, and project administration.
  • Construction Oversight: Manage inspection staff, verify the quality of daily inspection reports, and ensure all site activities strictly adhere to safety protocols and permit requirements.
  • Contract Management: Support the full lifecycle of contractor payments, review and process RFIs, manage change orders, and maintain clear documentation.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track contractor progress, evaluate schedule adherence, and ensure overall project effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Lead project, safety, scheduling, and contract administration meetings with clients, contractors, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Administrative Support: Manage all project correspondence and facilitate communication between office and field personnel.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as an ARE or OE specifically on NYCDEP infrastructure projects.
  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in E-Builder.
  • Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of construction schedules, inspection report requirements, and complex payment review processes.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification is required.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate effective communication between project management, contractors, and subcontractors.
