Job description

About Quest Forward High School

Quest Forward High School (QFHS) Omaha is a private, college-preparatory high school that empowers students with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed for success in college, careers, and life. Established in 2017, the school offers small class sizes, personalized learning, and a unique curriculum focused on critical thinking, digital creativity, and service leadership. With its College Admissions Advantage (CAA) program and hands-on career exploration, QFHS Omaha provides a supportive and engaging environment where students take ownership of their learning and future success. As part of Opportunity Education (www.opportunityeducation.org), QFHS Omaha aims to set a model for schools nationwide.

About The Role: Instructional Coach

The Instructional Coach is a school-based leadership role responsible for driving teacher development and student achievement through consistent, high-quality coaching and professional learning. At the core of the role is a cycle of daily classroom observation, real-time and weekly feedback, and data-driven planning meetings that help teachers strengthen their instructional practice and meet the academic needs of every student. The coach leads content internalization, oversees curriculum and assessment response, and designs and delivers professional development — ensuring that instructional priorities are deeply understood and consistently implemented across classrooms.

Beyond individual teacher growth, the Instructional Coach partners with the Principal to develop school-wide instructional systems, and build a structured, achievement-oriented school culture grounded in high expectations and culturally responsive practice. The Instructional Coach works in partnership with instructional leaders at Opportunity Education's other campuses

Responsibilities

As a dynamic and growing organization, responsibilities will evolve; however, core areas of focus include:

Instructional Coaching and Management (60%)
  • Conduct daily classroom observations and provide real-time and weekly feedback to teachers on instruction, classroom culture, and management; integrate findings into planning and data meetings that drive teacher growth and targeted action steps
  • Lead weekly one-on-one coaching sessions and inform, write, and/or facilitate mid-year teacher reviews
  • Plan and deliver high-quality professional development at the school, regional, or network level, addressing key pedagogical issues and school-wide instructional trends
  • Plan and execute grade-level and content-area team meetings grounded in walkthrough data and school-wide action steps
Learning and Development (20%)
  • Lead content internalization sessions and adapt grade-level scopes and sequences as needed to ensure rigorous, standards-aligned instruction
  • Partner with the Principal and OEN instructional leaders to identify high-leverage coaching goals for Quest Forward High School
  • Collaborate with the Principal to curate staff-wide professional development using school-wide action steps and walkthrough data
School-Wide Contribution & Culture (20%)
  • Contribute to the broader life of the school, supporting events, systems, and student experiences beyond the core role
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and school leadership to ensure alignment between academic preparation and post-secondary goals
  • Serve as a visible, engaged member of the school community, building strong relationships with students across all grades
  • Step in to support school needs as they arise; this role, like all at Quest Forward, extends beyond a narrow job description
Required Candidate Experiences
  • Evidence of significant and consistent personal and professional achievement
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • 4+ year(s) of experience as a classroom teacher with a proven record of student growth and high achievement
  • 1+ year(s) experience leading and/or coaching teachers, including but limited to roles such as Assistant Principal, Principal, Dean of Instruction, Dean of Academics, Instructional Coach, Teacher Coach, etc.
Ideal Candidate Traits
  • Deep belief in all students' potential and a commitment to holding high academic and behavioral expectations
  • Strong people management skills, including the ability to effectively navigate difficult conversations and hold staff, scholars, and families accountable in a supportive manner
  • A growth mindset, constantly seeking to refine and improve instructional practice
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Systems-based thinking and previous experience creating academic systems, as well as teacher development systems
  • Readiness to go above and beyond, including putting in extra time in and outside of your role, to build Quest Forward's college prep school
Compensation

Salary is currently budgeted in a range competitive with local district expectations. This role is eligible for a full suite of medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.
