Job description

St. Patrick Catholic School in Brighton, Michigan is accepting applications for a part-time Teacher Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. In this position you will work closely with full-time teachers in grades 3rd-5th and with our Academic Resource Teacher. Duties will include: supporting IEP and accommodation plans, working with small groups of students, assisting with events and planning, working one-on-one with students, and providing both enrichment and intervention as needed.
St. Patrick Catholic School is a dynamic Catholic school of excellence in Brighton, Michigan. Located at 1001 Charles Orndorf Drive, Brighton, Michigan, our school is a 50,000 square foot building located on 13 acres of beautiful, natural surroundings. We are deeply committed to forming missionary disciples, spiritually, intellectually, and in Christ-like character that will last a lifetime. Our school community is a credible witness to the truth, beauty, and goodness of Jesus Christ.
Applicant must be a practicing Catholic who is committed to fostering a child's relationship with God while promoting academic excellence in a 21st Century classroom. In addition, candidate must possess strong communication skills, a willingness to work as a part of a team, and a solid understanding of classroom management.
The following are also preferred but not required:
  • A current State of Michigan Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education (K-5 all subjects/ 6-8 self-contained)
  • Early Childhood Endorsement
  • Experience in early literacy instruction (Orton-Gillingham or other training in systematic multisensory phonics instruction)

All candidates will need to pass a criminal background check with fingerprints and participation in the VIRTUS program, or proof of such participation, will be required. Qualified candidates should submit the online application and attach a cover letter, resume, college credentials, at least three letters of recommendation, and a copy of teaching certificate.
