WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Franciscan Physician Network is seeking a Medical Oncology & Hematology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our busy practice at Franciscan Health Cancer Center located in Munster, IN. The Nurse Practitioner will rotate between our locations at Franciscan Health Munster and Franciscan Health Dyer. The hospitals are state-of-the-art facilities with great support staff that works well together as a team.
WHAT WE NEED:
Ideal candidate will have 1 - 2 years of hematology-oncology or inpatient setting experience. The candidate will have a focus on clinical excellence and patient experience/satisfaction. Candidate will display exceptional interpersonal skills with a desire to invest in the community, building long-lasting relationships with patients and their families.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Flexible full-time schedule
  • Rounding is arranged collaboratively with physician
    • Outreach schedule can include Franciscan Health Dyer and Munster locations on a week-by-week basis
  • Average inpatient volume: 5 - 10 patients per day
  • Innovative new clinical trials program
Clinical Care/Office Visits
  • Manage select patient visits independently, including:
    • Iron deficiency follow-ups
    • Chemotherapy education visits
    • Post-chemotherapy follow-ups
    • Breast cancer survivorship (6-month medication management visits)
    • Biologic therapy patients
Medication Management
  • Handle narcotic prescribing by guidelines
  • Process routine and specialty medication refills
  • Monitor for adherence, side effects, and safety
Administrative & In-Basket
  • Manage EMR in-basket (labs, messages, refills, results) in a timely manner
  • Coordinate care and ensure appropriate follow-up
Insurance & Authorizations
  • Conduct peer-to-peer reviews as needed
Coverage & Team Support
  • Provide provider coverage during physician absence (e.g., vacations)
  • Collaborate with physicians and care teams to maintain continuity of care
