The Culinary Lead will be assigned oversight of the food preparation in one or more of the food service areas throughout the park or restaurant. This position will collaborate with the Food and Beverage Manager to ensure proper cooking and serving techniques, and also direct other cooks and food preparers to ensure efficient operation of the kitchen.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare workstations with supplies, foods, and condiments

  • Focus on delivering exceptional food quality for all meals prepared

  • Prepare proper quantities of food according to department standards and individual guest needs

  • Ensure that all service and hygienic practices, policies, and procedures are being followed at all times

  • Strictly abide by standards set forth by ServSafe, state and local regulations, company policy, and other food regulatory standards that may apply at Dutch Wonderland Inn

  • Provide direction and culinary expertise to other kitchen team members

  • Communicate with other kitchen team members to ensure efficient operation

  • Carefully follow recipes and procedures while preparing all food dishes

  • Utilize ovens, fryers, broilers, griddles, mixers, and knives to prepare food (age restrictions may apply)

  • Ensure food and ingredients are being properly stored at the correct temperatures

  • Pre-portion individual packaging sauces, sandwiches, salads, and other items

  • Operate a Point-of-Sale (POS) system to record financial transactions, as needed

  • Accurately handle food related tickets, coupons, gift cards, and/or fun money

  • Escalate safety, hygienic, or maintenance issues to the proper authorities in a timely manner

  • Properly handle, label, stock, and store products including chemicals and cleaning supplies (age restrictions may apply)

  • Promptly notify the security team or the manager of team member and guest injuries or emergencies

  • All other duties assigned by leadership

Education and Experience:
  • No education requirements for this position

  • Culinary arts education a plus, but not required

  • 2+ years of previous experience as a chef, cook, or another culinary-related role highly desired, but not required.

  • Previous work experience as a kitchen lead or supervisor, highly desired.

  • Must be Food Handler Safety Certified (ServSafe or similar) or become so within 90 days of hire, when required by state and local guidelines.

Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with PA Child Labor Laws

  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from your scheduled shift

  • Ability to comply with all uniform policies

  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner

  • Must possess safety-oriented mindset and understand the importance of complying with all state, and local food preparation and serving regulations

  • Ability to use kitchen equipment, knives, and appliances in a safe and effective manner

  • Must possess practical working knowledge of food preparation or culinary arts

  • Ability to follow direction, multi-task, and work as part of a team as well as independently

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday

  • Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders

  • Ability to withstand heat and humidity from the food preparation equipment

  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more

  • Ability to use a step ladder in a safe and proper manner

Working Conditions:
  • This role will predominantly be based in a kitchen environment

  • Potential to be asked to work in other indoor or outdoor areas of the park, as needed

  • Some exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions

  • Subject to the handling of and exposure to oils, chemicals, detergents, and cleaners

  • Subject to frequent interruptions, constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, and heavily populated environments
