About the Facility - Lebanon VAMC
The Lebanon VA Medical Center is in Pennsylvania Dutch country and is one of 9 medical centers in the region. Lebanon's main campus is in South Lebanon Township, 3 miles outside of Lebanon and approximately 30 miles east of Harrisburg, the state capital, and 30 minutes from the city of Hershey, Reading, Lancaster, and York. Six community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) are in Camp Hill, York, Reading, Lancaster, Pottsville, and Frackville, PA, of which this position calls for visitation of all CBOC locations. Care is available to over 174,000 Veterans from the nine growing counties in South Central Pennsylvania.

Gastroenterologist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • The Gastroenterologist shall cover the range of Gastroenterology services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standards of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceedingly currently recognized national standards.
  • Provide an academic environment conducive to the training and professional development for residents rotating through the Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology Service.
  • Responsible for complying with the Residency review documentation and ensuring that all notes and encounters are completed and shall appropriately document medical records in accordance with VA standards.
  • The Gastroenterologist performs any administrative duties relative to documentation of resident training, as required and directed by the VA or designated representative.
  • Shall provide clinical direction to and oversight of residents/fellows consistent with current accreditation guidelines, clinical research, and protocol development.
  • The Gastroenterologist provides comprehensive clinical gastroenterology services including the full range of colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy procedures.

Gastroenterologist - REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have ACLS and BLS certification.
  • Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine with declaration in Gastroenterology.
  • Must have a current, full, active and unrestricted license from any state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia in good standing.
