Job description

Petro Star Inc., as North Pacific Fuel (NPF), operates a full-service fuel company in Dutch Harbor.  We provide a variety of services to our Dutch Harbor customers, including marine fuel and lubricant sales, equipment and storage rentals, as well as operating the town's only gas station, all while meeting the Petro Star commitment to customer service that's second to none.

This position is responsible for delivering fuel and other services to customers on the dock as well as by truck throughout the local area.  This position is also responsible for maintaining the equipment used for servicing customers, working safely, and responding to spills in an appropriate and safe manner.


Work Schedule:  This is a regular non-exempt (hourly) position.  We operate 3 shifts, 7 days a week, with normal work schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.  Overtime as needed for customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  • Provide fuel delivery and other services to support customers at all North Pacific Fuel's Dutch Harbor facilities while providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment in use to keep it fully operational.
  • Clean and maintain the docks, tank farms warehouses, truck racks and storage yards.
  • Courteously work with customers, fellow employees and supervisors.
  • Accurately complete necessary delivery/meter tickets, service billing sheets and required regulator/safety log sheets.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment when required.
  • Operate forklift and use small hand tools safely.
  • Able to follow instructions, prioritize and organize.
  • Meet company expectations for work schedules and attendance.
  • Participate in all required training and drills.
  • Use and wear personal protective equipment that may be required on the job.
  • Participate in emergency oil spill response situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a 24-hour HAZWOPER Certificate within 30 days of date of hire (company-provided training).
  • Must have an Alaska Driver's License with a good driving record and must have or be willing to obtain an Alaskan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a B endorsement and a valid DOT CDL medical card within 6 months of hire at your personal cost.
  • A Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card is required for unescorted access to our facilities.  You will be required to obtain one, at your personal cost, within 30 days of hire if you don't have one.
  • North Pacific Fuel is a drug-free workplace.  As such, you will be required to comply with the company's substance abuse policies.  If you do not have a CDL when initially hired, this position will participate in a Non-DOT ADEC pre-employment and random drug testing pool at company cost.  When you obtain a CDL, or when initially hired if you have a CDL, this position will participate in a DOT/FMCSA pre-employment and random drug testing pool at company cost.
  • Must be able to use and wear personal protective equipment that may be required on the job.
  • Forklift Certification preferred.
  • Experience transporting/handling fuel and petroleum products preferred.
  • Knowledge of marine lubricants and filters preferred.
  • Knowledge of ADEC, Coast Guard, and applicable State and Federal regulations preferred.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

This is not a rotational job on the North Slope.  You must live in the Dutch Harbor/Unalaska area or be willing to relocate at your own expense.
