Position Summary
The Reliability Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the dependability, durability, safety, and regulatory compliance of 1HMX products. This role focuses on designing and executing reliability and compliance test strategies that validate product performance throughout the full product lifecycle from concept and development through production and sustainment.
This role works closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Systems, Quality, Program Management, Manufacturing, and Customer Support teams to translate product requirements into meaningful reliability tests, analysis of results, identification of risks, and driving design and process improvements that enhance product robustness and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Reliability & Compliance Testing
  • Design, develop, and execute reliability and durability test plans for HMI, embedded electronics, electromechanical assemblies, touch interfaces, displays, and wearable devices.
  • Conduct environmental, mechanical, electrical, and operational stress testing to evaluate product robustness.
  • Support compliance testing related to product safety, EMC/EMI and wireless in accordance with international standards (e.g., UL/IEC, FCC, CE).
  • Define test requirements aligned with customer, regulatory, and internal reliability objectives.

Data Analysis & Risk Identification
  • Analyze test data to identify failure trends, performance limits, and potential reliability risks.
  • Apply statistical analysis methods to interpret results and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Provide clear feedback and actionable recommendations to design, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Failure Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Support failure analysis and root-cause investigations using structured methodologies.
  • Validate effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions through targeted re-testing.
  • Contribute to company growth and continuous improvement initiatives across NPI and Sustaining Engineering.

Standards, Documentation & Collaboration
  • Assist in developing, refining, and maintaining product testing standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Have knowledge of safety, ESD, EMC, and power transient standards to advise the design team and customers in regard to standard selection and requirements for a product.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Systems, Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Management to understand product requirements and risks.
  • Document test plans, procedures, results, and conclusions in clear, concise technical reports.
  • Support external labs, audits, certifications, and customer reliability inquiries.

Technical Awareness & Industry Trends
  • Stay current with emerging reliability testing methods, tools, and industry standards.
  • Recommend improvements to test methodologies, fixtures, automation, and data-collection processes.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in reliability engineering, test engineering, product engineering, or system-level testing, preferably involving HMI, embedded electronics, or electro-mechanical products.
  • Proven experience designing and executing reliability and durability tests.
  • Strong knowledge of product testing methodologies, quality standards, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with EMC/EMI, wireless, product safety, and international regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to document, present, and communicate technical findings effectively.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Able to read and produce electrical schematics and PCB layouts to debug product failures & develop product test fixtures.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, current meters, spectrum analyzers, as well as more specialized electrical test equipment.
  • Understand how to operate, program, and coordinate calibration and maintenance of laboratory chambers (Ultra-violet, Environmental, HALT, and RF Emissions)
  • Understand the use of ESD discharge and PCB strain test equipment.

Preferred
  • Experience in regulated or high-reliability industries such as medical devices, aerospace, industrial equipment, or defense.
  • iNARTE EMC engineer certification.
  • Proficient in LabVIEW, Power BI, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Excel.
  • Experience with environmental stress testing (thermal cycling, vibration, shock, humidity).
  • Knowledge of HALT/HASS, and reliability growth techniques.
  • Exposure to automated test systems or custom test fixture development.
