This is a field-based position with our customer, who is a leader in the smart utility industry. This is a long-term contract position with the opportunity for extension. The Contract Canvasser will be responsible for promoting participation in Duke Energyโ€™s Energywise for Business program.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable conducting door-to-door outreach in residential and/pr commercial districts, engaging business owners and managers, and clearly communicating the value of energy efficiency programs that reduce utility costs and improve sustainability.

In this role, you will utilize your own vehicle with mileage reimbursement supporting the greater Charlotte Region.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct door-to-door canvassing in targeted small business and commercial areas to engage small business owners.
  • Clearly present program offerings, emphasizing key benefits such as cost savings, bill credits, and energy efficiency.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the EnergyWise for Business program answer questions and address concerns.
  • Build rapport with business owners and decision-makers through informative, persuasive conversations.
  • Identify and document potential leads, follow up on inquiries, and schedule appointments for further consultations or installations.
  • Track outreach progress, conversations, and outcomes using provided forms or digital tools.
  • Meet or exceed established outreach and engagement goals.
  • Collaborate with management to improve canvassing strategies and techniques.
  • Represent the company professionally and adhere to all policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Work independently in outdoor, walking-intensive environments.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to engage customers.
  • Friendly, approachable, and able to build rapport quickly with diverse individuals.
  • Highly motivated and target-driven with a proven track record in meeting or exceeding sales goals.


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in sales, customer service, or canvassing is preferred.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • $20-24/hr depending on experience
