Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of the Laramie County Recovery Courts, the Administrative Assistant shall perform skilled, professional, and confidential office management, secretarial, and court clerk duties in support of the operations of Laramie County Recovery Courts programs.
Essential Job Functions
Essential Job Functions: (Essential function, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.)
  • Assists in the administrative operations of the Laramie County Recovery Courts office.
  • Reviews and processes legal documents, tracks their disposition, creates files, conducts research, and conducts disposition follow up as necessary.
  • Creates program participant files, updates files, collects statistical data, disseminates data, and enters data into the Wyoming Drug Courts Case Management System.
  • Types letters, memoranda, and other various documents, including the processing of confidential and sensitive documents.
  • Creates and maintains the minutes of Drug Court and DUI Court management team meetings and weekly court hearings.
  • Provides information and assistance within the scope of designated authority.
  • Collects financial and administrative information and compiles data for reports.
  • Answer phones, send emails, greet members of the public, and schedule appointments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree; AND one (1) year of administrative support experience; OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; legal secretary/paralegal certification preferred; must pass a thorough background investigation and drug examination.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Skill in typing and entering information into data programs with high accuracy and speed.
  • Knowledge of research techniques and legal terminology.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of record keeping and records management.
  • Knowledge of principles and protocols for the management of official documents and court records
  • Skill in drafting and completing accurate reports, legal documents, and technical correspondence.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other basic programs.
  • Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
