Job description

Title: Construction Superintendent/ Renovation Superintendent
Location: Carrboro, NC
 
About the job:
This is an innovative nonprofit with a dual purpose. We empower underemployed women and gender expansive individuals to seek living-wage jobs in the trades through our training program while carrying out repairs and renovations in the homes of older adults who are aging in place.
 
Position Overview:
The Construction Superintendent will plan and supervise the renovation, repair, modification, and rehabilitation work carried out by in the community. This position will report to the VP of Field Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the on-budget, on-time completion of multiple small to mid-scale construction projects throughout the Triangle.
  • Supervise and assist in the performance of hands-on construction tasks including (but not limited to) demolition, site prep, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, finish carpentry, landscaping, tiling, light plumbing and electrical. Projects may include critical home repairs, rehabilitation, renovations, accessibility modifications, maintenance-related tasks, etc.
  • Manage various aspects of project planning including subcontractor oversight, material orders, project staffing, and other project-related logistics.
  • Ensure a positive, welcoming, and inclusive work culture. 
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure that others do the same.
  • Maintain a respectful, safe and clean work site.
  • Adhere to the project’s designated budget and timeline. 
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of on-site experience in construction/skilled trades
  • 2+ years of experience supervising individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Strong construction knowledge and skills including carpentry, framing, demolition, surface treatments and finishing (i.e. painting, tile, drywall), and basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to do moderate physical activity that may include lifting, pushing, pulling materials, and equipment up to 75 pounds
  • Enthusiasm for working with diverse individuals of all races, ethnicities, genders and religions
  •  Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
  • Proven ability to solve problems and adapt to situations as they arise
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Platform (Gmail, Docs, Forms) 
  • Familiarity with Asana and Airtable, or ability to pick up new technologies quickly
  • Position hours: 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday
