Airgas is seeking a Production Supervisor for the night shift of one of our Dry Ice facilities. The Production Supervisor will guide Plant Operators in tasks such as production, packaging of dry ice, shipping preparation, and loading/unloading products in commercial trucks.

  • Coordinates and guides the safe operation, start-up, and shutdown of the dry ice plant while managing team tasks like production, packaging, and shipping preparation.

  • Coordinates with the local branch to ensure production resources (labor, materials, and equipment) match production demand.

  • Communicates operational status on a continual basis to the Plant and Branch Managers.

  • Interviews and welcomes new production associates to the team, later completing written evaluations and annual reviews.

  • Mentors, trains, and guides production associates to ensure alignment with Airgas safety, quality, and operational policies.

  • Manages and monitors supply inventories to ensure that proper materials are on-hand for production needs.

  • Identifies and facilitates the correction of all safety hazards and quality deficiencies, occasionally operating a forklift to meet production needs.

  • Works 70% of the time within an unconditioned work space (requiring PPE and protective gloves for handling cold dry ice) and 30% of the time in an office setting.

  • Remains available for required on-call and shift work.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: A High School diploma combined with extensive experience, specifically including three (3) years of supervising 10+ production workers in an industrial setting.

  • Leadership & Discipline: Strong decision-making skills to enforce company policies, plant procedures, and discipline staff in a fair, professional manner.

  • Administration & Communication: Very good written/verbal communication for basic reports, plus organizational skills to manage personnel files, time tracking, and inventory.

  • Math & Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, email) and higher-level math skills necessary for budgeting and cost control.

  • Environment & Physical Demands: Ability to work and lead a team safely in a noisy environment with elevated CO_2 vapor, including the physical capability to occasionally lift 5-50 lb. Dry Ice blocks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Education: An Associate's degree is preferred

  • Industry Expertise: Prior knowledge of operating specific ice plant machinery (block presses, saws, pelletizers, and valves).

  • Licensing: An active forklift certification.
