Pay:  $19.42 per hour

Job description:

Ellington Public Schools is seeking applications for a student transportation van driver. Successful candidate will transport Ellington student(s) on in and out of district runs.

Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a valid Connecticut driver's license. Must be able to pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug testing. Must have V Endorsement or be willing to with the school district to obtain endorsement.

A CDL license with a PS endorsement will also be accepted.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Completing daily required Pre-Trip inspections, fueling and keeping vehicle clean.
  • Safely transporting students to and from school in a manner that ensures their safety; promoting a positive attitude toward learning; following all laws, rules and regulations.
  • Occasionally complete additional paperwork related to student conduct/behavior

Physical Effort Required:

  • This position requires extended periods of sitting, extended repetitive motions of steering.
  • Must be awake and alert at all times while driving.

Mental Effort Required:

  • Position requires ability to drive safely in all weather conditions, despite noise, distractions and interruptions while in traffic; complete route correctly and safely within a time frame.
  • This position requires dealing with some conflict resolution.
