Job description

Vehicle Test Driver
Locations: Los Angeles, CA
/ Riviera Beach, FL / Newark, NJ / King of Prussia, PA - Multiple locations
Note: A valid driver's license, drug test, and motor vehicle record check are required. Flexibility Required to support Weeknend/Night Shifts.
Responsibilities:
  • Highway Testing: Operate autonomous vehicles on designated highway routes in shifts with a co-driver, assessing and validating the performance of autonomous driving systems under a variety of driving conditions.
  • Monitor Vehicle Behavior: Remain consistently alert during testing to observe the autonomous system's behavior, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor Vehicle Health: Ensure the test vehicle is in proper and safe working condition daily. Report necessary maintenance or repairs to workshop staff.
  • Data Collection: Initiate and monitor vehicle logging equipment. Ensure proper data collection and tag/annotate logged data with specified edge cases. Handle data collection disks.
  • Training: Successfully complete a rigorous internal training program and stay updated on program regulations and requirements.
  • Execute Test Plans: Follow predefined protocols to evaluate the capabilities and limitations of autonomous driving technology on highways.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify, document, and report any system issues, bugs, malfunctions, or environmental challenges during testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical problems and enhance system performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough records of test procedures, results, and observations. Prepare detailed reports summarizing testing activities, findings, and recommendations.
  • Collaboration: Partner with engineers, developers, and researchers to provide insights and feedback, contributing to the optimization of autonomous driving technology.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines, including adherence to traffic laws and emergency protocols.

Requirements:
  • Professional driving experience
  • Successful completion of internal operator training program.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and productivity software (MS Office).
  • Must be in good health, able to maintain vigilance and focus for two-hour uninterrupted blocks.
  • Excellent driving skills with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Thorough understanding of local traffic laws and safety practices.
  • Experience in testing or operating autonomous vehicles highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Detail-oriented, capable of collecting and analyzing data accurately.
  • Proficient verbal and written English skills for effective reporting and collaboration.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong self-motivation and accountability.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing project priorities and requirements.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as required for testing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional technical education or certification a plus).
  • CA DMV certification for AV testing (a plus)
