JOB SUMMARY:

The Class A CDL Driver –Drop & Hook is responsible for the safe and timely pickup, transport, and delivery of tires using drop and hook operations. Routes are assigned by dispatch; drivers are responsible for managing daily transportation activities, maintaining professionalism at customer locations, and completing all required documentation accurately. This role requires strict compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and Liberty Tire Recycling safety and operational requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely remove and transport tires from customer locations to designated Liberty Tire Recycling facilities or approved disposal sites.
  • Perform drop and hook trailer operations, including exchanging loaded and empty trailers at customer locations, company yards, and facilities.
  • Ensure all loads are properly secured and compliant with DOT and company safety requirements prior to transport.
  • Conduct required pre-trip, post-trip, and en-route inspections of assigned tractors and trailers; complete DVIRs and report maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
  • Accurately complete DOT logs, driver qualification documentation, bills of lading, manifests, and required company or customer paperwork.
  • Collect and transport payments from cash-only customers when required, in accordance with company cash-handling procedures.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and operational equipment at all times.
  • Navigate assigned routes using maps, GPS, and dispatch instructions while accounting for traffic, weather, and site conditions.
  • Maintain professional and courteous interactions with customers, tire stores, dispatch, and internal teams.
  • Follow all Liberty Tire Recycling safety policies, environmental standards, and operational procedures.
  • Assist with yard moves, trailer positioning, and other transportation-related tasks as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support waste tire removal operations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Ability to safely operate Class A equipment and perform drop and hook operations.
  • Strong attention to safety, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Clear and professional communication with dispatch, customers, and coworkers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks related to inspections and equipment handling.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age of 22 years old.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Must meet all FMCSA driver qualification requirements.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record in compliance with DOT standards.
  • Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience or equivalent Class A CDL driving experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role requires extended periods of driving, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and physical tasks associated with inspections, trailer handling, and waste tire removal operations.
