POSITION SUMMARY

Direct Care Staff play a pivotal role in our Residential Treatment programs by overseeing essential tasks to help clients meet basic needs. Direct Care Staff are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the program, preparing nutritious meals, administering medications, and providing support and encouraging overall health and wellness to clients.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

CLIENT CARE

  • Meal preparation and clean-up.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain sanitation and keep the home free of hazards.
  • Provide support that helps clients develop appropriate daily living skills to increase or maintain their level of functioning.
  • Encourage engagement in program activities and hobbies.
  • Manage and administer medications to clients per orders.
  • Report any concerns relating to medication management/med room to the Administrator in a timely manner.
  • Complete and maintain client records including but not limited to shift reports, medication administration records, menus, evacuation drill reports, etc.
  • Be attentive and engaging with clients.
  • Support clients in maintaining a clean and organized living environment.
  • Assist with creating and implementing daily schedules.
  • Assist with scheduling client appointments with prescribers, case managers, therapists, and other care partners as needed.
  • Arrange for transportation for clients as needed.
  • Respond to client needs and provide de-escalation as needed.

ADMINISTRATIVE & PROFESSIONALISM

  • Abide by all federal and state laws, regulations, and statutes.
  • Uphold all EDS Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Perform all work tasks in a safe and proper manner and immediately report safety concerns to the Administrator.
  • Model and promote teamwork, communication, and efficient job performance with all team members.
  • Complete all required training in a timely manner, both live and via the online training platform.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop rapport with clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Implement emergency procedures and disaster plans as needed.
  • Support QMHA and other DCS staff to perform essential job duties.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods. Staff may need to run, bend, stoop, lift, or reach on occasion.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, tools, controls and to handle paperwork.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, and observe facility operations.
  • Ability to navigate the facility, including stairs and corridors, as needed.
  • Hearing and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with staff, clients and administrative staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will generally occur in a Residential Treatment program but can occur throughout the community. As such, some travel may be required, and safe driving is essential. Work in this field can be mentally and emotionally demanding and requires personal and professional skills to effectively cope with potential stressors.
