As a driver for a government agency or department, you can for in a variety of positions in public transportation, law enforcement, corrections, and public works infrastructure. Your duties vary with the field in which you work, but your general duties may be to drive a vehicle to transport passengers as a city bus driver or haul and deliver equipment or materials to and from construction sites, military bases, or other state and federal facilities as a public works CDL driver. If you work in corrections, you may have increased responsibilities, such as guarding inmates and transporting them to and from county, state, or federal correctional facilities. Some driver jobs also require you to maintain state vehicles.
