Job description

Front Office Medical Receptionist
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Works under moderate supervision to courteously and professionally process patients into the department for their Physical Therapy visits.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Greet patients, create a friendly helpful contact and monitor waiting time prior to Physical Therapy appointment.
Schedule and verify medical appointments, process paperwork for appointment and direct patients to appropriate locations.
Interface with administrative personnel to ensure medical record is available for each patient's appointment.
Ensure all medical records contain necessary forms for medical appointments and deliver medical record to the physical therapist or PTA.
Obtain and/or distribute patient information as needed to include signature, completion of forms, surveys, etc.
Answer departmental phones and direct patient inquiries as needed.
Enters patient information into computer database or starts new patient paper file.
Performs insurance review by phone to obtain precertification for admission and outpatient services.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to pay close attention to detail, work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to operate a calculator and computer as well as other office equipment.
Professional, neat appearance.
Customer Service skills are a MUST- our patients are like our family!
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalent. Up to six months of previous receptionist or general office experience a plus
