Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PICU position requiring 2+ years of pediatric ICU experience and current PALS certification.

Details
  • Work in the PICU of a 152-bed Level II trauma center with a 16-bed PICU and Level IV NICU
  • PICU beds interchangeable with MedSurg overflow, caring for mixed neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical patients
  • Patient population includes respiratory conditions (high flow, CPAP, BiPAP), trachs, RSV, asthma, COVID, MIS-C, new onset diabetes, oncology, trauma, congenital heart defects, and general surgical cases
  • Does not treat solid organ transplant, major burns, or stem cell transplant patients
  • 12-hour day or night shifts (0700-1900 or 1900-0700)
  • 36 hours per week on a 19-week contract
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Floating required to MedSurg, ED, or NICU as Helping Hands or Constant Observer
  • Epic EMR preferred
Requirements
  • Active WA or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • Skilled in aseptic/sterile technique, dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, suctioning, g-tube/j-tube and feeding tube management, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, drip management, Foley insertion/management, and discharge planning
  • CRRT experience with Prismaflex preferred
  • CICU experience preferred
  • Scrubs of any color permitted, but no hooded shirts or long sleeves that cannot be pulled above the elbow
Additional Information
  • Provide direct care to pediatric ICU patients across respiratory, cardiac, surgical, medical, and trauma cases
  • Care for congenital heart defect patients from surgery through discharge
  • Handle Stat categories 1-3, with occasional category 4 cases
  • ECMO patients supported by a dedicated ECMO specialist
  • CRRT cases are low volume and typically managed by core staff, though travelers with prior Prismaflex experience may be considered
  • This 19-week contract covers the holiday season
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
