What is a Drip Hydration RN?

A Drip Hydration RN is a registered nurse who specializes in administering intravenous (IV) hydration therapy and vitamin infusions, often in clients’ homes or at designated clinics. Their responsibilities include assessing patient health, preparing and inserting IV lines, monitoring patients during infusions, and providing education about the benefits and risks of IV therapy. These nurses are trained to ensure safe, sterile procedures and often work with wellness companies or concierge medical practices. Their role is crucial in supporting hydration, recovery, and overall wellness for clients seeking these services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Drip Hydration RN?

To thrive as a Drip Hydration RN, you need a current RN license, strong intravenous (IV) therapy skills, and a solid understanding of fluid and electrolyte balance. Familiarity with mobile health platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and equipment for administering IV drips is essential. Excellent communication, patient education, and the ability to work independently are critical soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered delivery of hydration therapies, often in non-traditional or home-based settings.

What are some common challenges a Drip Hydration RN may encounter when providing in-home IV therapy?

As a Drip Hydration RN, you may face challenges such as managing unpredictable home environments, ensuring proper infection control outside of a clinical setting, and adapting to various patient needs on the spot. You'll often work independently, requiring strong decision-making skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment or patient concerns without immediate on-site support. Excellent communication and organization are essential, as you coordinate appointments, educate patients, and sometimes collaborate remotely with medical directors or other healthcare professionals.

IV Specialist | Part-Time, Weekends

IVitamin

Austin, TX • On-site

Part-time

Re-posted 26 days ago

Job description

This role was built for the nurse who wants more — without giving up their weekends entirely.

If you're a registered nurse looking for a flexible weekend side gig that pays well, stays out of the hospital grind, and actually aligns with your passion for wellness — this is it. No nights. No on-call. No 12-hour floors. Just two boutique clinic locations in Austin, a high-end client experience, and a schedule that works around your life.

About IVitamin

We operate boutique IV hydration lounges in downtown and north Austin, offering vitamin infusion therapies in-lounge and via mobile service. Our clients come to us to boost energy, recover faster, and feel their best — and our clinical team makes that happen with exceptional safety and care.

Who This Schedule Works For

This is a consistent part-time commitment — not a fill-in-when-you-can gig. It's a great fit if you're:

  • A weekday clinic or hospital nurse looking for meaningful supplemental income
  • A PRN or travel nurse wanting a steady, low-stress weekend anchor
  • Someone who thrives in a boutique, client-focused environment vs. high-acuity settings

You'll commit to one of the following:

  • Every other full weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
  • Every Saturday of the month
  • Every Sunday of the month

Hours are 10:00 AM–6:00 PM with minor flex for opening and closing.

What You'll Do

  • Insert IVs, prepare infusion solutions, and administer therapies per standing orders and INS standards
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after treatment
  • Educate clients on their therapy and recommend complementary wellness supplements
  • Present IVitamin membership and package options as part of our in-clinic sales process (this is where commission comes in — our specialists regularly earn meaningful bonuses on top of their hourly rate)
  • Assist with inventory, temperature logs, and equipment maintenance on a rotating basis
  • Support weekend training of new clinical staff as needed

What You Bring

  • Active RN license in good standing (Texas)
  • Minimum 2 years of IV administration experience, preferably in a high-volume setting
  • Current CPR certification
  • Comfort working autonomously in a small-team environment
  • A genuine interest in wellness and client education — not just clinical execution

What You Get

  • $32–36/hr commensurate with experience
  • Commission on memberships and packages
  • Employee discount on all IVitamin products and services
  • Room to grow as we expand — several of our current lead staff started in part-time roles
  • A supportive, wellness-driven team that takes patient safety seriously (our co-founder is a licensed pharmacist who personally oversees all formulations)
