Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meet with students one-to-one or in small groups to provide learning assistance and strategies on current course material.
  • Maintain a weekly schedule of available hours for student appointments of no less than 10 hours per week and no more than 20 hours per week.
  • Keep regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions using available software and/or relevant forms.
  • Visit class(s) to make contact with the faculty member at least once to obtain any necessary course syllabi or materials.
  • Attend tutor-training sessions as required by the Tutor Coordinator.
  • Attend workshops in order to obtain necessary certification.
  • Utilization of Tutor Match Services

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Be a current undergraduate or graduate student of CDU
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.5 for graduates.
  • Completion of a particular course tutoring with earning at least a "B"
  • Recommendation from a faculty member of each course to tutor.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY/SKILLS:
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
  • Good level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Appropriate and professional behavior at all times.
  • Demonstrated database management skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines and attain growth-oriented goals.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills and be proficient in MS Windows, Word, Excel, etc.

  • The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.
