Job description

Position Summary

The Marketing Intern will support the Marketing team in promoting the Museum’s exhibitions, programs, events, and membership initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in content creation, digital marketing, and community engagement within a mission-driven cultural institution. The intern will work closely with cross-functional teams and gain exposure to both strategic planning and day-to-day execution.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, creating, and scheduling social media content across platforms
  • Support marketing campaigns for exhibitions, events, education programs, and membership initiatives
  • Assist with photography and video capture for digital and promotional use
  • Draft short form written content including social posts, blog entries, and email copy, under staff guidance
  • Support onsite promotions, special events, and community activations, including setup and breakdown
  • Assist with list generation and basic data organization to support outreach, promotions, and reporting
  • Help maintain brand consistency across digital and print materials
  • Provide general marketing support as needed across projects and timelines

 

Key Projects

  • Keep the social content calendar and post captions current
  • Support photo/video capture and editing for museum events and campaigns
  • Help maintain brand consistency across digital and print material

  • Add Museum programs/events to local community calendars
  • Build and maintain outreach email lists
  • Send community outreach email campaigns, coordinate with hotel and community partners on event support, prep and help set up/break down event materials
  • Participate in marketing team brainstorming/planning sessions.
  • Support promotional efforts for special events, exhibitions, and public programs
  • Assist at relevant community events and brand activations
  • Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions with the marketing team
  • Upload and tag new photography/video
  • Make content revisions in the CMS, support website updates tied to launches or redesigns, and help move backlogged long-form stories live as part of the Archive Publishing Sprint
  • Respond to membership inbox inquiries, place lapsed-member renewal calls, set up and track unique promo codes in Membership database (including support for the Cornerstone-to-Zeffy platform renewal transition)
  • Assist with basic list generation/data organization for outreach and reporting, and
  • Support photo release documentation for member/donor-facing use
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers (e.g., sign shops, print vendors, framing/artwork vendors, hotel partners) to place orders, manage contracts, and fulfill logistics
  • Perform additional responsibilities and projects as needed to support organizational goals.

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Marketing or related field preferred (undergrad or graduate level)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills — diplomatic, tactful, customer-focused with professional ability to interact with a variety of clients
  • Positive, coachable, and hardworking
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, or holidays for key Museum events.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, energetic and outgoing personality with a proactive approach to work
  • Desire to grow a fruitful career in the Tourism, Museum or Non-Profit marketing industry
