Job description

Job Overview:
Keurig Green Mountain and Peet's Coffee are seeking an energetic marketing, advertising and food regulatory counsel with experience in modern marketing including AI and privacy, food labeling, food safety, and agency management to join our Legal team. This role report to the North America General Counsel and will focus primarily on supporting North American product development, advertising and marketing teams for great brands such as Keurig, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Peet's, Van Houtte and The Original Donut Shop.
The position requires a knowledge of food laws and regulations, advertising law, including how AI is impacting the field, as well strong drafting skills and a business mindset. An understanding of FDA, FTC, Lanham Act, provincial and state laws, as well as prior experience negotiating with agencies, content owners and talent is preferred. A willingness to flex and develop expertise in other legal areas is a plus. This is a challenging, highly visible role that requires collaboration with various functions throughout the company. This role will provide ample opportunities to learn, be challenged, and to grow professionally in a fast-paced environment.
What you will do:
• Review advertising and marketing to ensure compliance with US and Canadian federal, provincial and state laws and regulations. Knowledge of loyalty programs is a plus.
• Advise R&D on use of ingredients in foods, including labeling, food safety and GRAS status.
• Negotiate agreements with agencies, media companies and talent.
• Operate independently to manage relationships with business partners to understand their challenges and help develop solutions to manage a high-pressure, high-volume environment.
• Collaborate efficiently and effectively across legal and business functions in a manner that adds value, balances risk and protects the company's reputation.
• Participate as the legal representative on various cross-functional projects and initiatives, and work collaboratively with key functional groups within the company.
• Supervise a paralegal who is responsible for marketing, advertising and label review.
Total Rewards:
• Salary Range: $155,000 - $221,500
• Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors

• Annual bonus based on performance and eligibility

Requirements:
• Juris Doctor from accredited institution
• At least ten years of legal experience in advising clients at a law firm, or as part of an in-house corporate legal department
• Ability to partner, collaborate and influence at all levels within the KDP organization
• Nimble thinker, collaborative, and comfortable with change
• Position will be located in Burlington, MA headquarters with some limited travel
