Job description

Security Apprentice Purpose

The primary goal of this position is to develop a well-round Security Professional through exposure to the shop, field, and project work. The Security Apprentice will spend their time supporting shop activities, while also assisting with installations and service calls. The goal is to build the skills, knowledge and confidence necessary to transition into a field role.

Accountability Priorities

Priority order with estimated time in parenthesis

  1. Lead or assist job prep for field, shop, and walk-in customers
  2. Provide Locksmithing services - field or shop
  3. Project & installation support
Job Duties & Expectations

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Commercial Lock Service Support - field or shop
  • Cutting keys and working with master key systems
  • Troubleshoot doors, door hardware, locks, etc.
  • Perform lock and door service, which may include rekeying locks.
  • Lead and execute commercial lock and door service.
  • Train for and obtain manufacturer certifications for product offerings as necessary.
  • Timely and accurately update and complete work orders via OMS process flow.
Lead or ASSIST JOB PREP FOR FIELD, SHOP, AND WALK-IN CUSTOMERS
  • Lead or assist with job prep for projects large and small from walk-in customers, field service, and projects or general shop orders ensuring prep is completed timely to meet the customer's expectations.
  • Keep all customers (internal or external) up to date with progress expectations at the beginning of each project and at last weekly for projects waiting on back-orders or other delays.
  • Notify customer (internal and external) when job prep is completed including description of the work done and pricing (if applicable).
  • Maintain clear and accurate key records following procedures put in place by the shop manager.
Project & Installation Support
  • Assist with commercial lock and door installations or projects as needed.
  • Assist with all physical aspects of Electronics installations and projects as needed.
  • Assist with Door & Frame project and installs as needed.
Requirements

  • Ability to pass background check, drug test and DMV record check
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
Preferred
  • 2+ years previous customer service experience
