Job description

Bridgewater College is seeking an enthusiastic and student-centered Assistant Swim Coach to support its NCAA Division III men’s and women’s swimming programs beginning July 2026.

This full-time position reports to the Head Men’s and Women’s Swim Coach and is an opportunity to help develop student-athletes in the pool, classroom, and campus community. The successful candidate will bring strong coaching ability, a commitment to recruiting, and a passion for creating a positive and competitive team culture.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the men’s and women’s swimming programs
  • Plan and conduct on-deck coaching, training sessions, and competition preparation
  • Recruit prospective student-athletes who align with the mission, culture, and academic expectations of Bridgewater College
  • Mentor student-athletes and support their academic progress, personal development, and overall well-being
  • Help promote the swimming programs through social media, marketing, and branding efforts
  • Assist with team travel, meet operations, community service, fundraising, and other program activities
  • Maintain compliance with NCAA, Old Dominion Athletic Conference, and College policies and regulations

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Prior swimming coaching experience; collegiate coaching experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of competitive swimming techniques, training, and meet preparation
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills required
  • Commitment to student-athlete development and NCAA Division III values
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office; Excel skills are preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the College’s vehicle insurance requirements
