What is dolphin care?

Dolphin care refers to the specialized work of maintaining the health and well-being of dolphins in captivity, such as in aquariums, marine parks, or rehabilitation centers. This includes feeding, monitoring health, administering medical treatments, cleaning habitats, and providing enrichment activities to stimulate natural behaviors. Dolphin care professionals work closely with veterinarians and marine biologists to ensure that the dolphins receive proper nutrition, medical attention, and social interaction. Their goal is to promote the physical and mental health of dolphins under human care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Dolphin Care Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Dolphin Care Specialist, you need a background in marine biology or animal science, hands-on experience with marine mammals, and relevant certifications like SCUBA or marine mammal training. Familiarity with animal enrichment tools, water quality testing equipment, and record-keeping systems is typically required. Excellent observation skills, patience, and strong communication help foster animal well-being and effective teamwork. These skills ensure the health, safety, and enrichment of dolphins while facilitating education, research, and conservation efforts.
