Job description

Job Description:
The Department of Occupational Therapy at UTMB invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank within its residential entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program in Galveston, Texas.
We seek dynamic educators and clinicians who are passionate about student success, professional development, and preparing the next generation of occupational therapy practitioners. Particular expertise is sought in one or more of the following areas:
  • Pediatrics
  • Lifespan Development and Occupation
  • Movement Science
  • Neurorehabilitation
  • Experience with innovative instructional methods, curriculum development, and student mentorship is desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Responsibilities may include:
  • Teaching and advising students in the entry-level OTD curriculum.
  • Participating in curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation activities.
  • Mentoring students in capstone and scholarly projects.
  • Engaging in scholarly and professional activities consistent with faculty expectations.
  • Serving on departmental, school, university, and professional committees.
  • Participating in faculty practice opportunities as applicable.

Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) preferred; doctoral degrees in occupational therapy or related disciplines (e.g., PhD, DHSc, DrPH, DSc) will also be considered.
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist, or eligible for licensure, in the State of Texas.
  • Eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor based on qualifications and experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in an ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy program.
  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment, or accreditation processes.
  • Expertise in pediatrics, lifespan development, movement science, neurorehabilitation, or related practice areas.
  • Record of scholarship, professional engagement, and service to the profession.

Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
