Dock Agents are logistics professionals responsible for coordinating the loading, unloading, and movement of cargo at shipping docks, warehouses, or transportation terminals. They ensure that shipments are correctly documented, handled safely, and transferred efficiently between different modes of transport. Dock Agents often work closely with truck drivers, warehouse staff, and shipping companies to maintain schedules and resolve any issues that arise during cargo handling. Their role is vital in maintaining the smooth flow of goods within the supply chain.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a dock agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Dock Agent, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic knowledge of shipping and logistics procedures, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanners, and inventory software is typically required. These skills ensure efficient cargo handling, minimize errors, and maintain smooth operations at busy shipping docks.
