Job description

Job Title - DNA Extraction Scientist

Location - Research Triangle Park, NC

Duration – 12+ Months Contract

Total Hours/week - 40.00
1st Shift


Temp Position – NGS workflow team
We are seeking a temporary associate to join our team as a DNA extraction scientist. This team member will receive and log microbial samples, and perform DNA extraction and QC manually or using laboratory automation. The team member may also participate in the execution of various molecular assays including qPCR, library preparation, and next generation sequencing (NGS).

Job Responsibilities
· High throughput and manual DNA extraction from bacterial cultures
· DNA QC
· Accurate and comprehensive documentation in LIMS/QA systems (GLP environment)
· Adherence to all laboratory SOPs, including BSL2 procedures

Job Requirements and Experience
· B.A./B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field
· 2+ year experience in molecular biology laboratory environment (university or industry)
· Demonstrated expertise in DNA isolation and QC is required
· Excellent attention to detail with an understanding of laboratory practices is required
· Learning agility and timely execution of tasks is required
· Candidate must be comfortable running laboratory automation protocols
· Candidate must be comfortable with troubleshooting DNA isolation and QC procedures
· Experience with molecular techniques such as qPCR and NGS a plus
