The right Evening Lighting Technician / Repair & Logistics will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.

This role exists to provide the Entertainment Department with quality lighting technicians for live shows in order to provide Park Guests with a high-quality entertainment experience matching the expected level of Dolly’s and the Dollywood brand. This role is designed to perform lighting technical duties, adjust programming if asked, and to provide needed operational support to multiple facilities.

The ideal candidate will be able to display Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.

Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Be primary technician for all daily operational responsibilities related to show lighting
  • Have the ability to make programming changes to existing show programs and lighting software
  • The ability to make operational decisions in response to changing situations
  • Be able to react to daily equipment needs and upkeep
  • Operate different types of lighting consoles and spotlights with and without called cues
  • Responsible for routine site maintenance and upkeep of lighting systems and related components. Also responsible for maintenance and upkeep that requires a high level of investigation and problem solving
  • Be able to complete repairs on cabling systems and modern moving-light fixtures
  • Be responsible for multiple show tracks
  • Be able to provide technical back up support to multiple park venues as needed
  • Be able and willing to share knowledge and best use cases with other technical team members
  • Must work well with Stage Manager, cast and crew
  • Responsible for staging and resetting various stages for next show
  • Changing stage sets for different shows
  • Wear Dollywood Entertainment provided costume or uniform
  • Keep work area orderly, neat, safe, and well-maintained
  • Assist in other areas of Entertainment Division as directed
  • Drive company vehicles (cars, vans, non-commercial trucks) to transport personnel and/or supplies
  • Participate in work calls and complete tasks in a timely manner

Education and Experience Required

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have experience with lighting instruments and a good working knowledge of electricity
  • Knowledge of function and troubleshooting of various equipment and software, including but not limited to Hog consoles, DMX control, and Qlab
  • Experience in programming lighting software and show control systems, preferred
  • Must be able to operate lighting system in a safe manner
  • Must be able to operate a computer and be knowledgeable of general use programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Must have strong knowledge of instillation, operation and repair of modern moving-light fixtures
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance
  • ETCP certification in theater rigging and electrical preferred but not required
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment offer background check and drug screening

  • Able and mobility to work on a variety of surfaces including but not limited to: carpet, wood, steel, concrete, grass, and dirt while being able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, lay, lift, and carry
  • Must have reading, writing, and math skills necessary to: label consoles/cables, and console monitor information, diagram patch sheets for reference and archives, understand related manufacturer manuals
  • Must be able to hear well in noisy environments
  • Able to see near and far and have good color and depth perception
  • Must be able to operate electrical lighting equipment properly
  • Able to climb and work comfortably in high positions up to 80ft off the ground
  • Able to communicate over headset and radio
  • Able to perform all job duties in a safe manner while following all Dollywood Safety procedures and policies
  • Must be able to sweep and mop floors to keep areas clean for safety purposes

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

  • Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. utilizing company’s safety guidelines for safe lifting
  • Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours. Employees may also be required to travel to various areas on property which may include changes in terrain, stairs and uneven surfaces
  • Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
  • Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat. Employees may be required to work indoors and outdoors
  • Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved methods
