This role supports outpatient hand and upper extremity rehabilitation with a predictable weekday schedule. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, with general working hours between 7:30am and 5:00pm. One late evening per week is required, extending the workday to 6:30pm; late nights are not scheduled on Fridays. There are no on-call, weekend, or holiday requirements, supporting strong work–life balance.

The Occupational Therapist | Certified Hand Therapist will provide specialized evaluation and treatment for patients with hand and upper extremity conditions, collaborate closely with the care team, and contribute to efficient clinic flow. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a willingness to supervise a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). Candidates must demonstrate advanced hand and upper extremity expertise and hold Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission (HTCC).

Job Summary:

Performs initial evaluations, develops treatment plans and sets appropriate goals to assist patients in achieving their maximum functional level.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers and evaluates tests of musculoskeletal, neurological and physiological responses to determine functioning.
  • Develops appropriate treatment plans based on an patient evaluation.
  • Designs and fabricates orthotics and adaptive equipment. Initiates and performs treatments through the use of exercise, manual therapy, physical agents and rehabilitation.
  • Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy, or related area as required to obtain licensure in state of practice


EXPERIENCE

  • Three years' experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant standing.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
  • Frequent walking, reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving patients.
  • Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

Resuscitation Certification Requirement: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 day of employment. Other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.
