We're currently looking for a Controller to join our internal Operations team in Fairfield, NJ. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the firm's financial reporting, accounting operations, and core business support processes. If you're an experienced accounting professional who enjoys both strategic thinking and hands-on leadership, we'd love to connect.
What You'll Do
As Controller, you will play a central role in managing DLA's internal finance function and ensuring accurate financial operations across the firm. Your responsibilities may include:
  • Leading month-end, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Overseeing billing, payroll, and revenue cycle operations to maintain smooth day-to-day financial activities
  • Preparing and analyzing financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to support leadership decision-making
  • Developing and strengthening internal controls, financial processes, and operational workflows
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, process improvement, and technology
  • Supervising and mentoring accounting and administrative team members
  • Preparing executive-level reporting packages and financial analyses for leadership
  • Supporting tax and external reporting requirements by coordinating financial data and documentation
  • Partnering with leadership across the firm to support strategic initiatives and financial transparency

What You'll Bring
We know great leaders come from a variety of backgrounds. Ideal candidates typically bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • Experience working within professional services firm operations, including time/billing or revenue cycle management (required)
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
  • Experience managing month-end close and financial statement preparation
  • Experience with financial systems such as NetSuite, OpenAir, or similar platforms (preferred)
  • Knowledge of consolidated financial statements, intercompany transactions, payroll processes, and related compliance requirements
  • Strong Excel and financial systems proficiency
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
