What is a division order tech?

Division Order Techs, also known as Division Order Analysts or Technicians, are professionals in the oil and gas industry responsible for maintaining accurate ownership records for mineral rights and royalty interests. They analyze legal documents, calculate ownership percentages, and ensure that payments are correctly distributed to stakeholders. Their work is crucial for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and for resolving ownership disputes. Division Order Techs often collaborate with landmen, title analysts, and accounting departments to verify information and update records as new documents are received.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a division order tech?

To thrive as a Division Order Tech, you need a solid understanding of land and mineral rights, title research, and legal documentation, often supported by relevant experience or a degree in energy management, land, or business. Familiarity with land management software (like Quorum Land or WolfePak), GIS tools, and spreadsheets is typically required. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication are essential soft skills in this role. These capabilities are crucial for ensuring accurate ownership records, regulatory compliance, and smooth revenue distribution in oil and gas operations.

What are common challenges division order techs face when maintaining accurate ownership records?
