About the Role

The Lead Irrigation Technician is responsible for overseeing irrigation installations, maintenance, and repair work while leading field crews and maintaining Egan Landscape Group’s standards for quality, safety, and efficiency. This role works closely with the Irrigation Division Manager and serves as the on-site technical and leadership lead.



What You’ll Be Responsible For

Project & Crew Leadership

  • Lead and supervise irrigation crews on installations, maintenance, and repair projects
  • Delegate tasks and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards
  • Track job progress, timelines, and quality, and communicate updates to the Irrigation Division Manager

Technical Expertise

  • Diagnose and repair complex irrigation system issues (valves, pumps, sprinklers, wiring, controllers)
  • Program and configure irrigation controllers and automation systems
  • Install and troubleshoot 2-wire, multi-strand, and conventional wiring systems
  • Ensure systems are installed and maintained with efficiency and water conservation in mind

Client Interaction

  • Serve as the on-site representative for Egan Landscape Group
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and property managers
  • Recommend system upgrades or repairs to improve performance and reliability

Quality & Documentation

  • Inspect work sites for proper installation and compliance with company and industry standards
  • Perform final system testing and quality checks before project handoff
  • Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and work performed

Team Development & Safety

  • Train and mentor junior technicians
  • Promote and enforce safety protocols and best practices
  • Support crew development through feedback and hands-on leadership

Equipment & Materials

  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in excellent condition
  • Ensure materials are available for each job and report inventory needs

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Leadership

  • 4+ years of hands-on irrigation installation, maintenance, or repair experience
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a crew

Technical Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of irrigation troubleshooting and repairs
  • Experience with modern controllers, sensors, and automation
  • Comfortable working with 2-wire, multi-strand, and conventional wiring systems

Certifications & Requirements

  • Irrigation Association certifications (preferred, not required)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • DOT Medical Card (required)
  • Class 2A Hoisting License (preferred)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift equipment and perform physically demanding work
