Job description

Arnold & Porter is seeking a Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Assistant to join its Washington, DC office. This role is an integral part of the firm's D&I team, providing administrative and operational support across a wide range of diversity initiatives and programs.
The D&I Assistant works closely with team members to coordinate events, manage day-to-day operations, and support special projects. This position reports to the D&I Manager.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support for D&I programs and events, including professional development initiatives, affinity groups, alumni and client networks, heritage month programming, and recruiting pipeline efforts
    • Coordinate logistics such as invitations, guest lists, RSVPs, catering, and materials
  • Support virtual and in-person events, including managing Zoom/Teams sessions, breakout rooms, recordings, and AV coordination
  • Track and manage firm sponsorships and partnerships with diversity-focused organizations, including maintaining project trackers, processing invoices, coordinating submissions, and communicating with stakeholders
  • Process and monitor D&I-related expenses and invoices
  • Manage shared inboxes and maintain the D&I calendar, responding to or routing inquiries as appropriate
  • Maintain and organize D&I materials, resources, and inventory to support ongoing programming
  • Update and maintain D&I intranet content and assist with content development
  • Conduct research and support preparation of materials for initiatives such as the D&I newsletter
  • Provide administrative support to the Chief D&I Officer and Director of D&I, including expense processing as needed
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, trainings, and special events, including serving as a point of contact for visitors and guests
  • Manage logistics for consultant visits, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and coordination with internal teams
  • Maintain and update distribution lists and assist with routine communications
  • Take and edit meeting notes for distribution
  • Schedule and coordinator D&I Committee meetings

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least one year of administrative experience in a professional services, corporate, or law firm environment; or three years of relevant administrative experience in lieu of a degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Windows-based systems; experience with Smartsheet and basic HTML preferred
  • Familiarity with AI productivity tools (e.g., writing assistants, workflow automation) is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving abilities
  • High level of responsiveness, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and respect for confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to client service, both internal and external
  • Reliable, adaptable, and able to work additional hours as needed.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $53,200 to $55,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
