Salary Range - $90,000 - $150,000 (depending on experience)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tax Manager with a specialized focus in nonprofit organizations to join our dynamic team. The Tax Manager will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive tax services and strategic guidance to our nonprofit clients. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations applicable to nonprofits, along with a passion for supporting organizations that make a positive impact in our communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tax Planning and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency for nonprofit clients.
  • Prepare and review annual tax returns, including Form 990, 990-T, 5500 and state filings, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Provide guidance on tax-exempt status, unrelated business income tax (UBIT), and other tax-related matters specific to nonprofits.

Advisory Services:

  • Advise clients on complex tax issues, including charitable giving, grant compliance, and structuring of charitable programs.
  • Conduct research on tax laws and regulations affecting nonprofits and communicate findings to clients in a clear and concise manner.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop tax-efficient strategies for fundraising, investments, and other financial activities.

Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with nonprofit clients, serving as a trusted advisor and resource for all tax-related matters.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including audit and consulting professionals, to deliver integrated solutions that meet clients' needs.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to add value and expand services to existing clients, fostering long-term partnerships.

Compliance Oversight:

  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
  • Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations impacting nonprofits and communicate updates to clients and colleagues.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and accuracy in tax services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in tax compliance and consulting, with a focus on nonprofit organizations.
  • Deep knowledge of tax laws and regulations applicable to nonprofits, including IRS Form 990 reporting requirements (5500 a plus).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to client situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to clients and team members.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
