Here's how a HSE Supervisor for PCL Civil Constructors, Inc. within Civil East contributes to our team: 

Leads the implementation and continuous improvement of project health, safety, and environmental programs, partnering with project teams, trade partners, and field leadership to promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the safe delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects across the East District
Responsibilities
  • Implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices. 
  • Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training. 
  • Implements district HSE communication strategies on projects. 
  • Recognizes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification. 
  • Leads and conducts project HSE inspections and monitors the quality and effectiveness of inspections and trade safety plans. 
  • Develops and evaluates efficiency of the project emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements and the environmental plan.  
  • Monitors and audits trade contractor HSE performance. 
  • Participates in on-site investigative processes and evaluating corrective actions taken. 
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders. 
  • Coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and other employees.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. 
  • Holds safety designation. 
  • 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Previous experience in a supervisory role an asset. 
  • Solid understanding of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes. 
  • Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships. 
  • Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology. 
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
