Here's how a HSE Manager for PCL Construction Services, Inc. within California Buildings contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
  • Develops and assists with implementation of project HSE and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifies, evaluates, develops, and delivers project-specific HSE training. Assists with the development of project training. Assists with the development of district specific training.
  • Reviews project training objectives and project trend action plans. Identifies industry statistics and hazards and communicates any expected/anticipated changes to project teams.
  • Verifies that hazard identification tools are in place on the project(s) and evaluates areas for process improvement.
  • Oversees and conducts formal HSE inspections and audits.
  • Provides guidance and coaching to project teams and direct reports on audit requirements.
  • Evaluates and verifies that appropriate PPE is being used on project sites. Develops specialized PPE training as required.
  • Develops and evaluates effectiveness of project emergency response plan and executes crisis communication plan for project(s).
  • Verifies that equipment and tool inspections are being conducted and documented as per the program.
  • Participates in the investigation process as per the incident investigation matrix and determines when external resources are required.
  • Monitors work injury and ensures modified work is followed and properly documented.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in OH&S or a related discipline.
  • CRSP certification preferred (CDN).
  • ASP certificate preferred (US).
  • 9 years of experience in a related industry, with direct experience in HSE.
  • 4 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
  • Strong ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Expert knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation related to projects/area.
  • Ability to coach and mentor others on HSE processes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills on HSE topics to senior managers and projects.
