About the Job


We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to identify, develop, and deliver strategic sales opportunities that drive revenue growth across our business. This role is ideal for a results oriented professional with a strong background in business development, key account management, and building long-term customer relationships.

As the Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in expanding MQED's customer base by developing new business opportunities, strengthening existing client relationships, and identifying new markets and sales channels. You will work closely with distributors, retailers, manufacturers, and strategic partners to accelerate business growth while supporting the company's long-term commercial objectives.

This position combines sales leadership, business development, market analysis, and strategic relationship management to deliver sustainable revenue growth and expand MQED's presence across the Canadian food and agribusiness sectors.


Key Responsibilities


  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across retail, foodservice, wholesale, and distribution channels throughout Canada.
  • Build and manage relationships with grocery retailers, distributors, food manufacturers, and strategic customers.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to increase revenue, market share, and customer acquisition.
  • Identify new product placement and category expansion opportunities within existing and prospective accounts.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, prepare proposals, and close new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful customer onboarding, product launches, and account support.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities to drive business growth.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and market insights for senior leadership.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings to strengthen relationships and expand the company's network.
  • Perform other duties and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Professional Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agribusiness, Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in agriculture, agribusiness, food production, or a related industry.
  • Proven experience in commercial business development and revenue generation.
  • Experience working with senior executives and cross-functional leadership teams.
  • Knowledge of government funding programs and grant opportunities is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently.
  • Willingness to travel within Canada as required.
  • Ability to work full-time from the office.
