Job Summary
Under the Director of Materials Management, responsible for the overall operation of the Materials Management distribution process. Provides leadership over the materials management department. Responsible for the management and purchasing of all medical/surgical supplies, medical equipment, services and capital assets for the metro hospitals. Responsible for the effective usage of human and financial resources to achieve quality outcomes. Responsible for assigned personnel, 7 days/week, 24 hours/day and subject to overtime and callback as required by hospitals.
Job Responsibilities
• Interviews, counsels, disciplines, assigns, and monitors work; trains, orients, and evaluates assigned personnel. Develops productivity and performance standards. Observes and documents productivity of assigned personnel to maintain department FTE goals
• Promotes BMHCC vision/values through personal example and interaction with staff and ensures compliance with BMHCC policies and procedures.
• Analyzes department operations, identifies opportunities for cost reductions and enhanced efficiency. Monitors supply needs of customers and develops improvement plans with measurable goals to enhance services.
• Directs overall operation of materials management departments and works with staff and customers to enhance efficiency and quality of service.
• Maintains good working relationship with all hospital departments by providing service, assistance and open communication. Develops and maintains a positive work climate and the overall team efforts of the department. Communicates and interacts with staff and key customers to imporove customer satisfaction.
• Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.
Experience
Minimum Required - Four (4) years of experience in Materials Management or Two (2) years formal leadership experience in any function.
Preferred/Desired - Previous experience in a large healthcare facility.
Education
Minimum Required - High school Diploma or Equivalent.
Preferred/Desired - Bachelor degree and 2 years experience or 6 years experience in Healthcare.
