Job description

Hog Slat, Incorporated, the world's leading provider of parts, equipment and turn-key construction to the swine & poultry industries is seeking an Operations Manager - Distribution Center with excellent customer service, reasoning and management skills to join our team in Humboldt, Iowa.
This position will report directly to the General Manager of the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.
  • Provide each employee in department with necessary information to perform their assigned duties on a daily schedule.
  • With assistance and direction from the Human Resources Department, ensure a safe working environment, including the warehouse and outside, yard area.
  • Maintain and provide Warehouse overview report to appropriate levels of management. Ensure information contained within is accurate and easily discernible.
  • Ensure Company housekeeping expectations are met by department personnel. Maintain a clean warehouse and orderly yard at all times.
  • Ensure and maintain accurate inventory information at all times, including documenting reasons for any discrepancies. The incumbent will also be expected to correct these situations in a timely manner as well.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record, in accordance with Company policy.
  • Oversee multiple departments including shipping, receiving, inventory control, assembly, truck drivers, and maintenance
  • Cross train in all departments to ensure coverage is available in the absence of department supervisors

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
The best candidates for the Operations Manager position at Hog Slat will have all of the following previous experiences:
  • Previous experience managing in a dynamic distribution center/warehousing environment
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office applications
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred
  • Experience using E-mail, Word and Excel in daily communications
  • Ability to quickly learn inventory management software
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain fork lift certification and use a fork lift regularly
  • Must poses a valid driver license
  • Ability to work 50+ hour work weeks and weekends as needed
  • Must have the ability to delegate and hold others responsible for daily tasks
  • Ideal candidate will have knowledge of the hog farming industry prefered
  • Knowledge of parts and equipment used in modern hog operations is strongly preferred
