Job description

Job Purpose

Manages the accounting, operations, management reporting and financial analysis processes for the Company's invested asset portfolio. Implements and updates accounting and reporting policies and procedures in support of Statutory, US GAAP, and SEC regulatory reporting requirements. Manages accounting staff.

Responsibilities
  • Manages financial analysis and management reporting for the invested asset portfolio.
  • Manages the compilation and reconciliation of investment income, capital gains/losses and cash available for investment.
  • Manages the consolidation of affiliated entity financial results and preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures.
  • Manages the delivery of audit documentation and provides support to internal and external auditors.
  • Researches, interprets and implements applicable accounting guidance, pronouncements and SEC and other regulatory requirements.
  • Supports budget and forecasting activities.
  • Maintains relationships with external service providers, custodians and investment managers.
  • Provides performance metrics and analysis input for continued use, as applicable.
  • Manages staff and is accountable for personnel actions including hiring, performance and salary reviews, disciplinary action and termination.
  • Provides direction and guidance to associates and coordinates training, both onโ€‘theโ€‘job and through formal training opportunities.
Other Duties
  • Completes ad hoc reports and requests for senior management.
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of Statutory and US GAAP accounting principles and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of Jackson products and systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills including MS Word, Access, Excel and other department software.
  • Strong analytical and problemโ€‘solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to manage and lead staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of work experience required.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or MBA preferred.
