Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Distribution Supervisor is a salaried leadership position is responsible for the timely, accurate and efficient processing of workflow through an assigned area. They will be largely focused on receiving, picking, packing, and shipping warehousing functions within the Retail and DTC distribution environment. Qualified candidates will need to possess working knowledge of an automated warehouse system, achieve key process and operational cost improvements in accordance with established company policies and procedures and foster a safe team environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supervise up to 50 associates.
  • Achieves continual process improvement. Focuses on accuracy, customer value proposition, order flow/processing schedules, inventory, and expense management.
  • Differentiates performance by coaching, training, and mentoring staff in an effort to continuously improve the effectiveness of the workforce and utilizes recognition and performance management to reinforce and affect behavior.
  • Writes and administers annual Associate performance evaluations and conducts regular career development and performance conversations.
  • Monitors and tracks labor productivity and key performance indicators and improves performance verses prior year and plan objectives.
  • Eliminates non-value-added activities and inefficiencies. Remains competent in decision making, risk management, and cost analysis.
  • Demonstrates strong judgment skills. (i.e. scheduling, expediting, planning and coaching).
  • Obtains a strong knowledge of Warehouse Control/Order Management system (Manhattan Warehouse Management System).
  • Utilizes WCS to eliminate non-value-added activities and inefficiencies.
  • Promotes safety leadership by protecting the health and welfare of the Company's associates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree with a concentration in a technical discipline (Industrial Engineering, Logistics or Operations Management) preferred or 5 plus years of related work experience.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of supervisory experience in distribution operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
  • Promotes teamwork and works effectively within diversified teams
  • Proficiency with warehouse and distribution management software is required. Experience with Manhattan Warehouse Management System preferred
  • Experience with process improvement and driving change
  • Ability to analyze forecasting and make well-supported recommendations
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Thorough understanding of policies and procedures relative to customer service
  • Prioritizes customer satisfaction and displays a sense of urgency when responding to customer concerns
  • Acquires knowledge of functional operations (order flow, 5S, receiving, warehouse, replenishment, and expense management)
  • Works at a fast pace in a rapidly changing business environment
  • Experience in communicating and addressing issues to senior management
  • Career development and operational understanding will require Operations Supervisors to move laterally within the distribution network
  • Continually expand on personal operational and supply chain knowledge via internal core skills training, professional affiliations, workshops, and industry forums

  • Regularly performs computer work and sits.
  • Occasionally stands, walks and/or lifts up to 70 lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
  • Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
