Overview

We are designing the grid of the future!ย 

The Distribution Design Manager/Senior Manager will provide strategic leadership and oversight for EPE's Distribution Design & Engineering business in the Southeastern U.S., leading a team of designers and engineers supporting multiple utility clients. This role is responsible for managing distribution design and engineering projects, cultivating client relationships, overseeing project portfolios, driving staff development, and supporting business growth. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in utility distribution systems with proven leadership, project management, and client management skills, while remaining actively engaged in project execution and the delivery of high-quality client solutions.ย  This candidate will also be located in Southeastern U.S..ย 

Responsibilities

How you can make an impact:

  • Direct multiple design teams simultaneously executing various projects and programs for multiple clients
  • Develop a team of engineers by training, coaching, and nurturing EPE's engineering talent
  • Supervise staff by approving timesheets and running the annual performance review process
  • Participate proactively as a member of the leadership team of the Distribution Design Line of Business
  • Create responses to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs from clients for new work including proposal creation and definition of scope of work
  • Draft SOW responses for clients as needed
  • Possess a growth mindset to foster creative problem solving for our clients' most complex issues
  • Promote continuous improvement to develop streamlined processes and tools that facilitate improvements to departmental technical resources via innovation and automation
  • Delegate tasks to staff, forecast and plan their future workload, and run recruiting activities to support growth goals
  • Drive the quality control process for the execution team to ensure the highest level of quality in all deliverables
  • Liaise with clients to maximize affinity, facilitate business development growth, and foster long-term relationship building
  • Manage the health of project portfolio by proactive project management in tracking scope, schedules, and budget with support from EPE's Project Management Office
Qualifications

Bring your passion, here what's needed:

  • 7 to 10+ years experience working in Distribution Design with an emphasis on complex overhead and underground designs
  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer or Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Prior hands on experience performing distribution designs
  • Understanding of NESC, GO95 and NEC standardsย 
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools.
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation
  • Prior leadership experience whether it be formal or informal management/leadership
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and external vendors
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation under experienceย 
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to utility distribution systems
